The University System of Georgia (USG) Mental Health Initiative is backed by $11.5 million in Governor's Emergency Education Relief funding for the system's 26 institutions. At UNG the initiative consists of: UNG Mental Health Initiative Mental Health First Aid -Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. Certified Peer Educator Training - Four students have completed training to become Certified Peer Educators. Additional trainings are be scheduled for Spring 22. This training opportunity can also be used as a development opportunity for students in some majors. 9
