Why Recruitment? TESTIMONIALS FROM PANHELLENIC EXEC. KYRA PEÑA - PANHELLENIC PRESIDENT For me, recruitment was something I never thought about until college. I grew up all over the place and was not sure if a “home” was in my future. My father is a fraternity man who, truthfully, never talked about sororities. My mother never went through recruitment. However, when I came to UNG I felt myself being pulled towards greek life. I grew up in a leadership based household based off the service and bravery of actions for others. So naturally, I wanted to pursue a route that would allow me to do that. As I entered recruitment I made it a personal goal to keep my options open, and it was the best decision I made. Through the process I’ve made so many friends, in addition to gaining a chapter that I truly love. Without recruitment, I would not have been able to connect to the university, other women, and my community. I can confidently tell you that recruitment changed who I am and who I will forever be. My final piece of advice: Go to a chapter that makes you feel seen, heard, loved, valued, and accompanied. I am wishing you the best thought your recruitment, and I am here for you all! GO GREEK! Through the formal recruitment process, I met so many incredible women who I’m fortunate to still call friends today. More importantly, I found sisters who have supported and inspired me, and I am endlessly grateful that I chose to go through recruitment. Along the way, I’ve been given meaningful leadership opportunities within my own chapter, and as a Panhellenic woman, that have allowed me to grow and develop skills that I will carry with me into my future career. Looking back, my college experience would not be the same without this journey. I’m so thankful I took a chance, stepped outside of my comfort zone, and found my best friends along the way!
