Why Recruitment? TESTIMONIALS FROM PANHELLENIC EXEC. ALLY FRELIGH - PANHELLENIC PRESIDENT “Coming to UNG I spent a lot of my first semester kind of alone and not really knowing where my place on campus would be. I was in choir with some amazing people when this girl who I had gotten super close to told me I should go through recruitment. In the past Greek life never interested me because I just didn't think I'd be able to find my community there, but against my better judgment I decided to register for recruitment and every single day since has been absolutely amazing. Throughout the process I was introduced to so many amazing women across all of the organizations and knew that no matter which organization I ran home to I had found friends everywhere. The Panhellenic community has allowed me to truly become my best self on this campus by pushing me to be a better leader, a better person and a better friend. I can't imagine my life without it.” NATALIE NIX - EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT “When I came to UNG my Freshman year I knew making friends and finding my group of people was going to be very easy. Fast forward to my sophomore year, the only friends that I had made were my two roommates and three girls in my chemistry class. My sister is an alumni in Greek life and talked me into going through recruitment. While going through recruitment, I met so many amazing girls! Some of my best friends to this day are girls that I went through recruitment with, even though we found different homes. My sorority sisters have been the biggest blessing me to. From my highs of getting into nursing school and getting a job to my lows of going through heartbreak, they have always been there to life me up. I can’t wait to see the friendship you all make when you find your home this weekend!”

New Member Period The first semester of joining a sorority is considered your new member semester. During this period, chapters have a new member process that helps new members become acclimated to Greek life. This process typically adds weekly new member meetings and events to the general body requirements of attending chapter, philanthropy events, and other events held. The new member process is equal to adding 1.5 classes to your schedule. All new member education is required to be completed in 6 weeks maximum. Education First At UNG, our chapters understand that educations comes before everything else because it is the reason we are all here. We encourage you to be as involved as possible in your sorority, as you gain leadership development and opportunities you may not receive elsewhere. With that being said, every chapter has relief when needed. Many chapters offer a limited amount of study cuts from mandatory events to help out sisters who need to focus on their school. Time Commitment

Leadership Positions If you choose to fulfill a leadership position within your chapter OR on the Panhellenic council you will be responsible for fulfilling those duties. Different positions require different amount of time; however, the least time consuming positions are typically on a chapter’s junior executive council (also could be named as chairwoman or committee heads). These positions are typically equal to adding 1.5 classes to your schedule. Positions on the Executive Council for your chapter or Panhellenic typically require more time than a junior executive position. These positions are typically adding 2 classes to your schedule. A position such as president typically adds around 3 classes to your schedule. General Body Member Once you have completed your new member process, you will become a general member. The duties of a general member consists of attending weekly chapter meetings, philanthropy events, and other mandatory events designated by the chapter. Some chapters have service hour requirements per semester required for every member. Being a general member in your sorority is equal to adding 1 class to your schedule Time Commitment Cont.

What to Bring? Most PNMs will carry a bag with some of their personal belongings to use during waiting periods, or to freshen up before rounds. You can bring a bookba, tote bag, ec., but whatever you bring will NOT be allowed in the Recruitment Rooms SCHOOL SUPPLIES Bring anything that you may need to work on! You will have down time throughout the day, so a laptop, iPad, Airpods, etc. could be helpful to ensure you don’t fall behind on assignments. HYGEINE PRODUCTS Deodorant, perfume, a hairbrush, etc. could be helpful to ensure you look and feel your best before going to different rounds! MISCELLANEOUS A phone charger, book, and snacks could help you get through each day as well!

WHAT TO WEAR For Open House, you will wear your Panhellenic Shirt and your choice of bottoms. Some wear athletic skirts, jean shorts, etc.; the best advice is wear what you feel comfortable and confident in! Round One: Open House WHAT TO EXPECT During Round One, you will visit all six sororities. You will speak to active members of the chapter and get to know a little bit about you! This is the most casual day, so be sure to be yourself and allow your personality to shine through. At the end of the day, you will rank the 6 sororities. Front of Shirt Back of Shirt

Round Two: Sisterhood & Philanthropy WHAT TO EXPECT During Round Two, you will visit AT MOST FOUR sororities. Each sorority you visit will inform you of their unique philanthropies and values. This day serves to form a deeper connection with the sororities and to also ask important questions you may have about the sorority’s sisterhood. When selecting your preferred sororities at the end of the day, consider which philanthropies and values resonated with you the most and which sisterhoods you feel a potential connection with. WHAT TO WEAR Philanthropy & Sisterhood round is a step up from Open House. Typically, PNMs wear a nice top with a nice skirt, a cute sundress, or a nice top with jeans. It’s important that you are comfortable an confident in whatever you choose to wear!

Round Three: Preference WHAT TO EXPECT During Preference Round, you will visit AT MOST TWO sororities. This is the most intimate round of the recruitment process. Each chapter you visit will share the stories of their sisterhood and what bonds each sister together. Be honest with the sororities regarding where your heart is and be ready to have tough conversations if you find yourself feeling torn. This round is all about you finding your home and that should be the main topic of conversation. WHAT TO WEAR Preference Round is another step up from Philanthropy Round. This round is more formal than the past two due to it’s intimacy. Typically, PNMs will wear a nice dress or jumpsuit that makes them feel confident. Sororities will typically be seen wearing dresses.

WHAT TO WEAR Your chapter will give you a t-shirt once you receive your bid! A neutral pair of shorts, an athletic skirt, or leggings are easy to pair with your new chapter’s bid day theme. The chapters will provide accessories that go with their Bid Day theme! WHAT TO EXPECT Bid Day is the BEST DAY of the recruitment process! On Bid Day, PNMs get to find our which sorority they are being offered a bid from. Once the bids have been accepted, everyone will report to the gum to run home to their new sisters! After running home, chapters will go their separate ways to their own individual bid day venues. Bid Day!
