7 The University of North Georgia has always been a part of Allen Earls’ life. As a Dahlonega native, he learned to swim at the age of 10 at the UNG pool and played ping-pong over the summers on campus. When it came time to choose where he would get his college education, UNG was the natural choice. Allen graduated Magna Cum Laude as a proud member of the class of 1986 with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in Computer Science. From Macon, Georgia, Terri graduated from Berry College and began her career at UNG working as the Resident Assistant Director. UNG would not only provide an education and employment for the Earlses, but would be the place where they would meet for the first time. In Terri’s words, “we met and the rest was history.” Together, they’ve been successful in business, entertainment, and their careers and life. Their success, blended with their giving nature has allowed them to give back to UNG and make an impact on current and future students. “We want them to be inspired,” said Allen. “You can start with humble beginnings and achieve great things. We want to form a chain reaction of inspiration – it helps make the world a better place.” The Earlses have supported UNG in many ways, but recently dedicated a room in the Cottrell Center for Business, Technology & Innovation. When asked why they supported the new center, Allen stated, “Business is in my blood. It was the right opportunity that married my passions for business and philanthropy. My faith in God and my degree from UNG prepared me to achieve great things, even beyond business.” Not only do the Earlses want to foster success in students, but anyone with an affinity for UNG. “There’s nothing too small to give,” Terri said, “If each of us does our part, it creates this masterpiece that changes the lives of others. You don’t have to just give money, but you can also give your time, including being a mentor. Giving to UNG is an opportunity to help transform lives and to be a part of something greater than yourself.” DONOR SPOTLIGHT MEET ALLEN & TERRI EARLS
