2022 DIR

I graduated from the University of North Georgia in May 2022 with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education. I am now studying for my Elementary Education Reading Specialist Master’s degree at Virginia Tech. After graduating, my goal is to be an Olympic pole vaulter for USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics. I’ve always known I wanted to work with young kids after college. I used to help my grandmother watch the children she was a nanny for and worked gymnastics summer camps for 3-to-7 year old kids. In high school and college, I worked with elementary school children in an academic setting. My favorite part is watching a student finally understnd after struggling with a concept or subject. Beyond the classroom and off the field, I enjoy playing piano and guitar, and being outdoors. One of my favorite parts about being at UNG is the mountains that surround us. “What really helpedme was being able to move away fromhome to pursue an excellent college education and continue to compete in pole vaulting. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without scholarships.” As a transfer student to UNG, I didn’t have the same experience choosing UNG as an incoming freshman would. What I didn’t know as a freshman starting out at Delta State University, was that UNG would become the place where I would study finance, meet my best friends and continue to play the sport I love. I would encourage other transfer students to consider UNG in their search. It’s not just a place, it’s a family. Everyone knows each other and you make relationships that will last a lifetime. “It truly has been a blessing. You gave me the chance to come to UNG, take classes and live my dream of playing college golf.” I try to inspire my fellow students and teammates to work as hard as they can and enjoy everything. You only get four years, make every moment count. MEET NOAH Transfer Student Golf Team Scholarship MEET JOURNEY Roy E. Bottoms Scholarship Nighthawk Athletics Giving 13
