Diversity & Inclusion WHAT IS A TRANSFER STUDENT? A transfer student is someone who earns college credits from a previous institution and decides for a variety of reasons to transfer to another institution to complete their college degree. Our department, Nighthawk Engagement and Student Transitions (NEST), supports transfer students through outreach, orientation, programming, and student success initiatives alongside the Transfer Advisory Group and other campus support services. Our department champions and advocates for transfer students as they discover their pathway at UNG. Who can be a Transfer Champion? Administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the external community. Currently, NEST provides a Transfer Coach to each incoming transfer student to support their transition academically, as well as to serve as an advocate for campus support services. These peer student leaders are specifically selected for their passion and dedication to transfer students on all five UNG campuses. Transfer Coaches are available to students prior to the start of their first academic term until the end of their first year at the university. 7
