March 2021 Newsletter
From the Office of Diversity & THIS MONTH THE UNG TEACHING CIRCLE FOR UNG FACULTY WOMEN OF COLOR, IS THE HIGHLIGHT. This Teaching Circle serves to provide opportunities for faculty to discuss issues related to teaching and learning, promotion and tenure, peer support, and issues that impact minoritized women in academic environments. During the last academic year, we were able to submit and have a book chapter accepted on women in higher education leadership. We will continue to discuss and get involved in opportunities for academic presentations and publications based on the TC work. In addition, we plan to read and discuss chapters from the second edition of the text Presumed Incompetent: Race, Class, Power, and Resistance of Women in Academia (Niemann, Y. F., Gutiérrez y Muhs, G., & Harris, A. P., 2020), which was purchased with our mini-grant in the spring. 11
