June 30, 2021 Update The Department of Human Resources has developed a brief guide for managers to use in determining a position’s eligibility for teleworking. Managers and employees should review the UNG Teleworking Policy for guidance. Also, please review the employee’s position description to ensure the stated responsibilities align with the employee’s ability to perform their duties remotely. In addition, managers should keep in mind that teleworkers performing university business from a remote location shall only connect via approved IT mechanisms. If an employee’s work requires access to protected data, additional controls and approvals may be necessary. I f no , the pos i t ion i s not e l igibl e for te l ework i ng. Can the employee perform all of the essential functions of their position in a teleworking environment? I f yes , the pos i t ion i s not e l igibl e for te l ework i ng. Are the normal work functions of co- workers and other departments adversely impacted by the employee’s teleworking arrangement? I f yes , the pos i t ion i s not e l igibl e for te l ework i ng. Is access by students, faculty or staff members restricted in any manner? I f no , the pos i t ion i s not e l igibl e for te l ework i ng. If remote access to any University or federally protected data is required, does the employee have University-provided equipment and is the employee able to connect via a UNG IT-approved remote connection? I f not approved by UNG’ s IT Depar tment , the pos i t ion i s not e l igibl e for te l ework i ng. Use of personal computer to access any network database must be reviewed and approved by the UNG IT Department. 9
