I don't see color One of the key impediments to developing stronger understandings between the races in the United States is the concept of colorblindness. In discussions between majority and diverse populations, colorblindness is presented as a goal to solve cross-cultural difficulties. Below are some sociological analysis of the limits of colorblindness. In essence, colorblindness develops blind spots. The Perils of Colorblindness (Dernman-Sparks & Phillips, 1997; O'Brien, 2001;Rodriguez, 2000) “When whites claim to not notice others’ race, as in ‘I didn’t even notice she was Black,’ there is an implicit ideology of white as the norm” (O’Brien 46).
